Infrared Building Inspections

A vital element of every enclosure investigation

The Detective in our Toolbox

We like to say that infrared technology is the detective in our toolbox.

We’re one of the few building enclosure specialists in Calgary certified in Infrared Thermography. Utilizing our decades of experience and our dedicated camera and software, we are equipped to complete a meticulous, detailed investigation of your building.

If your building is having a moisture or heat loss issue, we can determine the cause, and help you fix the problem.

What is Infrared Thermography

Have you heard of night-vision goggles? They utilize Infrared Thermography to detect heat that is invisible to the naked eye, allowing objects to be seen even during the darkest hours. Our Infrared Thermal Imaging Camera uses the same technology, except we employ the detailed scope of heat radiation reading to highlight envelope/enclosure problems in buildings. This is possible because all objects give off thermal infrared energy. Our dedicated camera measures temperature at multiple points across a large area to create thermographic images of your walls, your window seals, your foundation… and everything else.

Why is it Required?

Infrared Thermography could be called an MRI for existing buildings, giving us valuable, detailed information for our assessment.

A key part of our comprehensive analysis on every building enclosure, Infrared Thermography’s diagnostic imaging assists our investigation from both the outside and inside, as we track and identify sources of heat loss. It helps us to pinpoint issues ranging from air infiltration to water leaks, as well as humidity, insulation defects, electrical overheating and thermal bridges, even decades after the original construction.

Thermal bridging is the movement of heat across an object that is more conductive than the materials around it, creating a path of least resistance for heat transfer. This can be a major source of energy loss in homes and buildings, leading to higher utility bills.

Faster Analysis

With the data compiled from the temperature differentials detected by our high-performance camera, we can diagnose problems quickly, so repairs can get started without delay.
